We have been studying Polar Bears as part of our Arctic topic. We have learned that Polar bears have a layer of blubber around them to protect them from the cold icy waters. We decided to conduct our own blubber experiment using lard and a basin of cold water. We found that we could keep our hand in the ice for longer if it was protected by a generous covering of lard which acted as the blubber.
